Buy the GEL-Cumulus 21 a drink—ASICS just celebrated its birthday.
The 21st version of the popular Cumulus sticks with its winning combination of comfort and performance.
The Cumulus get its easy ride from FlyteFoam Propel cushioning and GEL technology. The FlyteFoam cushion is soft on landing but springy on takeoff, and the GEL tech in the heel and forefoot absorbs and disperses impact to keep your feet comfortable for the long haul.
Protecting the foam is a full-contact rubber outsole that provides a stable base for big mileage days and lets the foot roll easily from heel to toe. Overall, the Cumulus is still an ideal shoe for neutral runners to runners with mild overpronation.
ASICS added a bit of extra foam around the ankle for a softer, more cushioned feel than the GEL-Cumulus 20, and designers gave it a new look by tweaking the layout of the mesh upper and carving a new design into the sidewall.
What’s the Same
The outsoles of the 20 and 21 are nearly identical. Both models uses ASICS’ Guidance Line groove that makes the shoe more efficient, and both shoes have a 10mm heel-to-toe drop that shifts your body mass forward to reduce strain on your legs.
